Artist's Comments

You may have seen the lineart for this on my old account.

This new account signifies a new outlook and perspective on my art and life in general.

Although I wish I could transfer all of the beautiful comments, pageviews, favourites and watches from my previous account - I cannot.

But I know that the change is something I need to do, to distance myself from things that have past, and start fresh for the future.

Another stage in my life has started, and this new account will signify that I hope.

Technical Specs:
Lineart: Artliner 210 Felt-tip marker. (Scanned)
Colouring: Stock Macromedia Fireworks brushes at various transparencies.
Texture: 'Grain' (Stock Mac. Fireworks texture)

Things to note:
- The arrow through the charaters head is a tribute to Aquasixio and his amazing art.

Nothing amazing there really!

Enjoy!
Alanna

UPDATE:
This artwork was awarded a "Mini DD" by the wonderful =SlyDante on the 31/3/08. (see here: [link])

"Ignorance is Bliss... by ~start-static is definitely a unique way to signify a fresh new start, but it's also (unsurprisingly) a great little drawing in general. Well-styled, perfectly colored, nicely detailed, & even a bit thought-provoking, this is one sweet Deviation with a lot of creativity & work poured into it...& the end result is worth taking a look at."

Thanks again, =SlyDante!

I really love this.
I've always wondered, is ignorance really bliss? I see my friends who don’t realise what’s going on in the world and they seem quite happy. I guess I'd rather know what’s going on though.
Anyway...
Great use of colours and I really like the way you have laid this out.
Well I guess at least he’s happy!
Definitely a favourite!!
Keep up the amazing work.

Cheers! Glad to see you like it!

Aww you're so kind!
I'm glad we think similarly, I often feel the same. there are days when i would kill for blissful ignorance, but my curiosity prevents me from being just that.
I'll try and keep the good stuff coming! ;)

I think it's a great idea to start a new account with just a little of your old one, this deviation.

I love the faded colours and the style is really cool.

this is cool...

I'm glad you like the idea, as much as I'm ready to move on from the old i still think acknowledging the past is something we all must do.

Plus, I was always fond of this deviation to begin with, so a revamped version for my re-vamped outlook on things did seem fitting.

Glad to see you've followed me over to the bright side!

Much love and cookies,

I first saw this as the lineart and loved it but this is even better! It's very cute ^_^ Ignorance is bliss but if everyone was ignorant art wouldn't be as moving(for one there would only be one side to your piece, the flowered side.). For me the most beautiful of art is taking something small and ugly and abused and making it beautiful...Your art is very thought provoking!!
:iconstart-static:
Wow. That was quite possibly the best comment I've ever recieved in regard to one of my works. I am so happy you like it so much!

And like you, I agree that the most inpsiring artists are always those who can find amazement in the mediocre, beauty in the unattractive, and intrigue in the blandest of things on the earth and beyond.

It is one thing to immitate that which is already stunning, but to create or highlight the beauty in something most people overlook is what a true artist does...

I only hope one day I'll be able to view the world as an artist and appreciate it for all it's flaws.

Thankyou for the comment, you've got me thinking....
